In Celebration of Life – Felicha Fay Heilman

We have all heard others speak of those who have passed away as having gone too soon. We cannot understand the reasons and we ask, “Why?” Yet, although I do not possess the answers for why Felicha is gone so suddenly and so soon, I have faith and my faith says God makes no mistakes. God surely had a purpose when he created Felicha. I believe that Felicha was a light that God sent into this world and that she shared that light with others. That was perhaps her purpose…to touch others and this heart beating within me is stronger for having loved her. There are some people in this life that are just so full of life and light that they lift you up and encourage you, recharge you and make you whole again. Felicha even in death is full of life for having loved and for being that light. Felicha’s physical form may be gone, but her energy remains within me and everyone else that she has touched. She lives on in each of us.

For some God’s voice is faint, but I believe that when we listen it becomes louder and easier for us to recognize. There have been times in my life that I have known with certainty that God has spoken to me and I believe one of those times was when I woke up in the middle of the night and I absolutely knew with certainty that I needed to go to that hospital to visit with my friend Felicha. She was scared and she needed me and I didn’t know it then, but it was the last time in this world that I would ever see her.

I’m so glad that Felicha chose a celebration of life because I would much rather celebrate her life than continue grieving her death. Although surely weeks after her death I am doing both.

Felicha, I will remember you forever my friend.
